RD Weis Congratulates Second LEED AP

Port Chester, NY… RD Weis is proud to announce that Sheri Gorman, Senior A&D Specialist for the metro NY area, has been awarded her LEED AP. Ms. Gorman is the second RD Weis team member to pass this demanding exam; Dana Swartz, the A & D Representative for the company’s Detroit office, is also a LEED AP.

“Passing this exam and becoming a LEED Accredited Professional helps me steward the LEED certification process for RD Weis clients,” Ms. Gorman said. “The training and accreditation process gave me a more thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and of the LEED Rating System.”

Credentialed with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, along with additional academic and professional training and CEU Certification, Ms. Gorman has served her clients as an Architectural & Design Specialist for 17 years. Passionately committed to sustainable design and green building, Ms. Gorman is also affiliated with IIDA, AIA, ASID, NEWH, PWC, and StarNet®.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is how the U.S. Green Building Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community, works to fulfill their mission of making green buildings available to everyone within a generation. LEED encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

Asked about the benefit to her clients of her LEED AP credentials, Ms. Gorman replied, “We help our clients strengthen their green building qualifications and assist LEED registered projects toward certification points. RD Weis services contribute to LEED points by making vital green design recommendations for sustainable, energy-efficient buildings, and by educating clients about green products, such as low-emitting materials, adhesives and sealants, low-emitting carpet materials, and indoor chemical and pollutant source control.”
