This terrazzo demo at Rosary Hill was executed by Peter Criscione!
“The demo went great even though it was much bigger than originally planned. Being it was epoxy terrazzo which is harder to polish than cement base, I had to add a couple of more steps. It payed off. It seems Andy was sold on it as it looked brighter and cleaner than the waxed version. He said it would take time to get used to. I told him what he had been looking at all these years was false gloss produced with chemicals. Now it’s a natural polish with no coating and easier to maintain. He also said it’s not his final decision. He has to sell it to his bosses. One of whom I believe walked by on her way to say prayers in the chapel adjacent to where we were working. She stopped and said it looked clean and shiny. I asked who that was and he said ‘That’s one of the decision makers. So I think we have one in the bag.’

We installed these floors at the Biosphere Climber in the Energy Lab exhibit at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk, CT! We utilized 200 square feet each of Capri Collections AND/OR rubber cork in 2.0 Lapis, Malachite & Onyx 3.2 mm rolls. This job shows how versatile AND/OR 2.0 is!
PS: There’s a nice installation of Polyflor’s Polysafe Hydro in a different area of this museum that we did around 2015, where James was brought into the project and has been working with the museum ever since!

We are often tasked to refresh and rejuvenate the flooring and carpets of many big box-style stores across the country. We work with certain companies to resuscitate their stores making them look and feel as good as new.
Each night after the store closes, our team goes in to begin our work to ensure we are finished and out before the store opens again the next morning. We don’t work on the entire store, but are given a section, a pad, as the client calls it, at a time, which is about 3,000 square feet. Customers who come into the stores, day after day, will hardly notice that we have been there, only that some sections of the store look and feel newer and more refreshed than others. We continue this complex and extensive work night after night until the whole store has been rejuvenated.
Thanks to Jillian Penkin for leading this project! Our first task when we start a project is to use a machine that we call The Terminator, which we use to remove carpet and adhesive off the floor until nearly all of it is removed. There may be areas covered in LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) that the Terminator can remove as well.
After the carpet and/or LVP is removed, our team goes in to physically remove any bits of debris from the extraction until the flooring base is clean enough for grinding. The debris from the carpet and LVP are disposed of in a dumpster.
Next, the subflooring is skim coated with a smooth, sand-free, hydraulic cement-based material used under the flooring. With the help of powerful fans, the floor dries in about 3 hours, depending on the humidity in the store. Adhesive is then applied by hand to the floor with a trowel. Different adhesives are used for the LVP and carpet.
Broadloom is precut for the space and installed by our team. LVP is also applied in specific areas. A leveling system, or shims are used to level the edges of the carpet where it meets the tile to ensure that the meeting between carpet and tile is smooth and that neither is higher than the other. Additionally, damaged or cracked tiles are replaced on walkways and bathrooms are refreshed with a tile-and-grout deep clean and deodorizing.
A team of five to six people work nightly, hour after hour, to complete a big box store refresh within a tight four week schedule, start to finish working right behind the paint team giving the entire store a refreshed look. The entire process is documented every step of the way.

As we embrace National Women in Construction Week this week, we are excited to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women within our organization who are shaping the future of the construction industry.
Our distinguished panel features three exceptional women from Diverzify: Laura Dellbrugge, Shelby Weil, and Robin Burgess. Each of these trailblazers brings a unique perspective and wealth of experience to the discussion.
Laura Dellbrugge, EVP of Strategic Business.
Laura attended Miami of Ohio before moving to Florida where she graduated from Flagler College. Laura has 24 years of experience in the commercial interiors industry with competency in FF&E and Flooring. Laura has spent her career working with national accounts and is currently the Executive Vice President of Strategic Businesses for Diverzify. Throughout her career Laura has built business models and programs to support the needs of multi-location clients. She is an industry leader in product consultation and has spoken at multiple conferences on flooring performance specifications for specific industry segments. Building strong, positive relationships is at the core of Laura’s success. In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her two children Ella and Tyler on the water, at sporting events and going to concerts.
Robin Burgess, RD Weis Account Executive.
Robin has been in the floor covering industry for over 40 years. She started as a distributor rep, calling on designers, selling and specifying Carpet, resilient and ceramic. She has held many jobs in this industry, working for manufacturers, dealers, and distributors. Her main focus and favorite focus is General Contractors and her relationships with the teams within each company. Robin’s success has been in developing these relationships and working on projects with these teams. Her main project focus is Senior Living and Multi Family. Robin has 2 horses and 3 dogs who take up all her non work time.
Shelby Weil, Diverzify Pro Business Unit Leader Operations.
Shelby Weil is a Chicagoland native who graduated from the University of Washington – Seattle with a degree in Economics. Competitive by nature with a knack for problem solving, Shelby found a home in the flooring industry. Having gotten her start at one of the largest flooring contractors in the nation, Shelby quickly climbed the ranks becoming the youngest operations manager in a major market. With a proven track record of leading teams, driving operational efficiency, and delivering successful projects under tight timelines, Shelby is always excited to embrace the next challenge.

See the work our team completed for this residential community project!
The yellow tile in the cafe is Ceramic Technics design crackle in caramel, the front of the bar is Trinity Veneziana in ivory. The metallic triangles are ceramic technics centro triangles in bronze.
We utilized Bentley dog eared carpet tile in the open dining area, as well as Mohawk Large and Local in a herringbone pattern in the corridor.
For the bar back wall, we used Ceramic Technics centro triangles in Bronze!
The unit with a bed is the Memory Care Model, floored with Mohawk Large and Local LVT.
For the bathroom with a flower on the wall, we used Daltile Fabric Art, Modern Linear on the walls and Trinity Cheyenne on the floor.
The corner unit has Mohawk large and Local LVT on the floor and Daltile Amity linear glass backsplash, with the corridor LVT all being Mohawk Large and Local in different colors!
