Rose Hill Gymnasium at Fordham University Project by RD Weis

Rose Hill Gymnasium is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena on the Rose Hill campus of Fordham University in The Bronx, New York City. The facility is the oldest Division I gymnasium currently in use. In the summer and fall of 2019, working within a tight deadline, the RD Weis PASS team installed 90,000 sf of new Maplewood sports flooring from Connor Sports.

The worked was carried out in phases. The school wanted to keep the existing bleachers so work began on disassembling the seats in sections, which were then loaded into 18-wheelers for temporary storage upstate. The old floor was then demolished followed by installation of the new court. The logo and boundary lines were placed on the floor and the project was completed in time for the first scheduled game on the new court.

This new state-of-the-art wood flooring is shock-absorbent and waterproof, reducing tension and strain on athletes’ bodies and providing the necessary moisture mitigating qualities to the court floor.
