Vic’s 30-Year Story
Vic Fotia’s first job interview with RD Weis took place July 8, 1994, with founder Randy Weis himself no less. He got the job during the interview when Randy took out the technician’s schedule and, using a pen, put Vic’s name down for jobs the weeks of July 18-July 24 and the weekend of July 23 and 24.
Vic’s first job was just 10 days later, when he showed up at the warehouse on Midland Avenue, joined two other technicians and off they went to NYC for his first jobs. And Vic never looked back. That was 30 years ago this year.
During that journey Vic not only rose through the ranks and learned all aspects of RD Weis’ trade, including running operations in Hartford, Connecticut, and in Port Chester, his comfort zone. He also got to travel the country attending industry events from Florida, Las Vegas and Dallas to a memorable “Bluefish” meeting at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, a thrill for a lifelong and diehard Yankees fan.
Throughout it all, the 30 years of ups and downs, the lessons learned and the opportunities offered, Vic credits Randy and his wife Peggy for welcoming him to the RD Weis family and creating a long career and lasting legacy. Vic is appreciative and very grateful for the opportunities afforded him by RD Weis, which not only resulted in a 30-year career, but afforded him the opportunity to get married, buy a house and start a family with his wife Nina and son Kai, perhaps his proudest achievement.
Congratulations Vic on 30 amazing and wonderful years!
